Living in Risky Times: BC Studies Conference 2027
Call For Papers
The biennial, interdisciplinary BC Studies Conference 2027 will be held on the ancestral territory of the Lekwammen speaking Songhees and Esquimalt Peoples at the University of Victoria on May 14-16, 2027.
We invite proposals for panels, roundtables, and individual papers that focus on British Columbia’s past, present, and future. We extend a particular invitation to approaches that speak to pressing issues of our time, from the rights of Indigenous Peoples to climate justice and beyond.
Preference will be given to sessions/panels that are interdisciplinary and bring together presenters from more than one institution. Preference will also be given to proposals that link to the conference theme:
Living in Risky Times
Researchers from all disciplines are welcome to apply, including those in the arts and humanities, social sciences, law, education, policy, planning, and environmental sciences. Proposals about teaching and learning, collaborative research methods, and the digital humanities in BC are all welcome.
We especially encourage submissions from Indigenous scholars and researchers, as well as graduate students; museum, library, and/or archives professionals; public scholars; artists; and/or community-based scholars.
